Melatonin Sublingual Information
Melatonin is the master control hormone produced naturally in the body by the pineal, a pea-sized gland in the brain. Secreted in the body at night, one of melatonin's many duties is to set and maintain the body clock which governs the body's natural rhythms. As we age, however, the once-high melatonin levels of youth decrease and may create imbalances.
Melatonin's many other functions include: acting as an anti-stress agent; acting as a nighttime restorative; providing the body with antioxidant protection from free radical damage; supporting the body's innate defense system; helping support a healthy balance of cholesterol and blood sugar levels; and acting to maintain the natural rhythms of the body.
The sublingual (under-the-tongue) form allows Melatonin to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, via the blood vessels under the tongue and in the cheeks, allowing for quicker entry into the system. Horizon produces a wide range of Melatonin to meet individual needs. For additional information about Melatonin, see the Frequently Asked Questions section.
