1.  cool hands, padded palms
   I've been using these gloves for over ten years. Becase the hands id so open, and for the most part just the palms are covered, your hands don't get hot or feel like your wearing gloves. The neoprene provides the most padding into a relatively then layer of rubber. Only complaint is that don't last more than a year or so if you workout 5 days a week.
